[LIVE] Source Code Lab Is at SPiCE Southeast Asia 2026 Bangkok -Day 1 Opening Night Recap

The 5th Annual SPiCE Southeast Asia is officially underway. Our team touched down in Bangkok earlier today and is settled in at The Landmark Bangkok — the venue that will host two of the most commercially concentrated days in the Southeast Asia iGaming calendar.

Day 1 was the SP’iCE’ Breaker Evening, and if the energy in the room tonight is any measure of what the next two days hold, SPiCE SEA 2026 is going to be one of the most productive events the team has attended.

The Venue: The Landmark Bangkok

The Landmark Bangkok lives up to its name. The hotel sits in one of the city’s most active business corridors on Sukhumvit Road — contemporary in design, warm in service, and organised in a way that naturally encourages the kind of unplanned hallway conversations that often produce better outcomes than scheduled sessions.

The event space is configured well for both the conference format and the exhibition floor. The proximity between session rooms and exhibition space means the transition between panels and booth conversations takes minutes, not twenty-minute walks across a convention centre.

Opening Night: SP’iCE’ Breaker

The Welcome Evening ran from 17:00 and drew a strong turnout from Premium and VIP delegates. The room was a mix of operators, suppliers, regulators, and legal professionals from across the Southeast Asia gaming landscape — and notably, a strong representation from Thai market participants given the domestic regulatory discussions currently underway.

First impressions from opening night conversations:

  • Thailand’s regulatory trajectory dominated early discussions — there is genuine optimism from operators and advisors that a licensing framework is getting closer
  • Crypto payment integration is not a “nice to have” anymore — multiple operators explicitly described it as a non-negotiable requirement for SEA market operation
  • Platform quality is under more scrutiny than at previous editions — operators are more technically literate and asking better questions
  • Esports betting came up in almost every sports betting conversation — MLBB and Free Fire are generating serious operator interest

Eventus Awards Ceremony — The Night’s Centrepiece

The Awards Ceremony followed the Welcome Evening and recognised outstanding performers across the Southeast Asia gaming sector. The awards process is competitive and the calibre of nominated organisations reflects the maturation of the regional market — these are not participation awards; they are commercially meaningful recognitions.

We will share specific award highlights as soon as the full results are confirmed.

Source Code Lab — Who We Met Today

Day 1 produced a productive series of first conversations with operators actively exploring platform options for Philippines, Vietnam, and emerging Thai market positions. The conversations clustered around three consistent themes:

  • Speed to market — how quickly can a compliant platform be launched for Philippines or Curacao-licensed operation?
  • Crypto architecture — what does a genuinely crypto-native casino platform look like versus a traditional platform with a crypto payment bolt-on?
  • White-label versus custom — at what operator scale does a custom platform begin to outperform a white-label solution commercially?

These are exactly the conversations we came to Bangkok to have, and we are encouraged by the depth of technical understanding the operators we met brought to the table.

What’s Coming on Day 2 — August 6

The main conference and exhibition opens tomorrow at 10:30. Day 2 is where the core commercial conversations happen — panels on Thailand regulation, crypto in iGaming, payment innovation for Southeast Asia, and AI-driven personalisation will all run across the conference programme.

Our team will be on the exhibition floor throughout Day 2 and Day 3. If you are here and have not yet connected with us:

  • Look for the Source Code Lab team on the exhibition floor from 10:30
  • Our primary topics: casino platform development, sportsbook software, crypto casino solutions, and white-label offerings for SEA operators
  • You can still reach us at sourcecodelab.co/contact-us/ to arrange a specific meeting time
