Allwyn AG has appointed Fredrik Ögren as its new group chief technology officer, bringing on board a senior technology executive with five years of experience leading Betsson Group’s platform development and international expansion strategy.

The appointment, announced on Tuesday, sees Ögren transition from his role as CTO at Betsson Group, where he was responsible for technology strategy and the evolution of large-scale platforms supporting growth across multiple jurisdictions. His tenure at Betsson included overseeing the recent acquisition of the Canadian B2C business of Rhino Entertainment Group.

Reporting to Kresimir Spajic, CEO of Allwyn Digital, Ögren will lead the development and execution of Allwyn’s technology strategy with a focus on creating a more connected and efficient ecosystem. The company aims to enhance growth, strengthen market positions and improve customer experience across its portfolio.

Technology Leadership at a Growth Inflection Point

The appointment comes as Allwyn undergoes rapid expansion and positions itself for further market development. Spajic recently indicated that additional mergers and acquisitions are on the horizon, with several discussions currently under way, though the company has signaled no urgency to close deals.

Commenting on his appointment, Ögren said: “I am thrilled to be joining Allwyn at such an exciting stage in its growth journey. Technology plays a critical role in creating great player experiences, enabling innovation and supporting long-term business success. I look forward to working with colleagues across the group to build an even more connected technology ecosystem, strengthen our capabilities and help deliver the next phase of Allwyn’s growth.”

Spajic welcomed the appointment, emphasizing Ögren’s industry credentials: “We’re delighted to welcome Fredrik to Allwyn. His expertise will be instrumental in building a more scalable technology platform to deliver improved experiences for our customers and partners.”

Restructured Technology Leadership Team

As part of the leadership reshuffle, Brett Cross, who has been serving as interim group CTO, will transition into a newly created position as CTO global lottery and deputy group CTO, reporting directly to Ögren. Allwyn described the move as building a strong technology leadership team for its next phase of growth.

Broader Leadership Expansion

The CTO appointment follows other recent senior hires at Allwyn. The company recently brought on board Francesco Rodano, a former Playtech executive, as group head of responsible gaming. In August, former William Hill senior figure Phil Walker was named Allwyn UK CEO.

The leadership changes come approximately one month after the responsible gaming appointment, signaling Allwyn’s commitment to strengthening its executive bench across technology, regulatory compliance and operational leadership as it pursues expansion opportunities in the lottery and gaming sectors.

With Ögren’s proven track record in scaling technology platforms for multi-jurisdictional operations, Allwyn is positioning itself to support both organic growth and potential acquisition integration as it builds out its digital and lottery capabilities across global markets.
